Because there’s still so little information available about Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings in Hawaii, I discuss the planning process in depth, including the various options and add-ons for the Memories Collection and what it’s like to arrange an event at this relatively new resort. Disney’s New Policy on Outside Photography & Videography Inside the Parks

Today I welcome Magical Day Weddings’ Carly Morgan back to the show to discuss Disney’s recent reversal of its ban on non-Disney photographers and videographers at wedding events inside the theme parks. Since 2009, outside photo and video vendors have been prohibited from shooting theme park events; now Disney has decided to allow them once again, provided you pay a $90 media escort fee.

In this episode, Carly and I discuss the details of this change and address the numerous questions that arose when it was announced—including whether or not outside vendors are now allowed to shoot other kinds of portrait session in the parks.

Demystifying the Room Block

One of the major requirements of a Wishes or Couture Collection event at Walt Disney World (and now an optional way to save on all types of weddings at Disneyland) is that you fill a certain number of room nights at Disney-owned hotels. Part of this requirement is setting aside a block of rooms at one or more Disney resorts that your guests can use at a discount, a process that must be completed before you can sign a contract and put down a deposit for a Wishes event.

The rules and requirements of the guest accommodation minimum and the room block can be fairly overwhelming to those just starting to plan a wedding, vow renewal or commitment ceremony. On today’s show, Disney bride Wendy Gatarz and I attempt to demystify the process by explaining the difference between the minimum and the block, how the room block works for guests, and how it works for you. We also offer tips that will help you decide which resorts to block and for how many nights, plus our take on the best way to set up your block.

Disney’s Bridal Showcase: Is It Worth a Trip?

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings will hold its next Bridal Showcase on Saturday, February 9, 2013, and tickets are still available. The event is easy enough to attend for those who live in Central Florida, but if you’re planning your Disney event from afar, you may be wondering if the showcase is worth an extra trip.

On today’s show, Disney bride Deena Ackman and I share our experiences at Disney’s last showcase, held in 2011, and whether we think this one is worth a special trip. You’ll learn what to expect at the showcase and hear whether anything she learned there helped Deena plan her wedding. Vendor Spotlight: Men’s Wearhouse Formalwear Delivery

Renting a tuxedo or a suit is a popular option for the men in the wedding party, but it can be a hassle for them to carry it on the plane to Orlando and return it in time. There are two local vendors that will let you submit the guys’ measurements online or over the phone and then deliver formalwear directly to their Disney resort—and pick it up afterward.

Today I chat with Julie Mischa and Cecilia Caldwell from the Winter Garden branch of Men’s Warehouse, who talk about their store’s formalwear delivery service. You’ll learn about the different types of suits available, what’s popular, and whether there are guidelines based on the ceremony’s time of day. Then Julie and Cecilia talk about how to get the guys measured and have their formalwear delivered in time to your Walt Disney World resort for the wedding.
