Beth Landry shares the story of her “Rockin’ Around the World” vow renewal weekend at Walt Disney World, starting with an Alice in Wonderland-themed ladies’ tea on the Asbury Patio at the Yacht & Beach Club and ending with a catered farewell brunch in the same spot.

In between were a Lady & the Tramp-themed welcome dinner at BoardWalk Inn’s St. James Room; the vow renewal itself, held in the Rose Garden at the UK Pavilion; a post-ceremony bash at American Adventure Parlor; and a dessert party at UK Lochside. As she shares her story, Beth also offers tips for organizing multiple events and discusses the importance of communicating your priorities to your event coordinator.

Likewise, those having Memories Collection events, which do not include cake, or celebrating an anniversary or an engagement may also be interested in some non-Disney options for having a cake delivered to a restaurant or a resort.

On today’s show, I chat with Heather Michaud, owner of It’s Tasty Too, who has provided cakes for numerous events around Walt Disney World. She shares tips on pricing, trends, and flavors; explains the rules surrounding cake designs, especially those incorporating Disney characters; offers advice for those who want to preserve their top layer; and explains how to communicate your wedding cake vision to your baker.

Disney’s “best kept secret” isn’t the Disney Vacation Club, it’s the ability to rent points from club members to stay in Deluxe Disney resorts at a fraction of the rack rate. When a Disney Vacation Club member’s points are due to expire before he or she can use them, often the member will “rent” them out (i.e., use them to make a reservation for another person at a rate based on the number of points required). Today we’ll explain how the process works and where to find members who can rent you the points you need. We’ll also look at the differences between Disney Vacation Club rooms and regular hotel rooms so you’ll know if point rental is right for you.
